Daily Show: 1, my workout: 0 [Et Cetera]

On a good day, if the timing works out, I like to be in the gym and on the elliptical machine by 5pm sharp. It's for a simple reason: the machines have TVs that carry Comedy Central, and if I'm on them at 5pm, I can watch last night's Daily Show as I work out, which makes the whole experience move by a lot faster.

...or at least that's how it usually works. Yesterday, however, this happened:

(warning: extremely juvenile humor)

It turns out that it's really hard to keep a good cadence going on an elliptical machine while you are choking with laughter. It also turns out that people look at you really oddly when you have a near-epileptic crack-up in the gym.

I made it until about the 3:45 mark before I had to stop and get off the machine because I was in danger of falling off it.

Well played, Mister Oliver. You win this round.

i didn't choke with laughter, i cried. ...which is appropriate. thank you.
Thank you for that. I really, really needed it, today.
Wow. I almost cried in laughter.

There was actually a real live sales rep who would call our help desk whose name was Phil McCracken.
I actually DID cry in laughter. :)
Me too. Holy crap. I had thought I was okay watching short video clips at work but I am now slightly embarrassed.
Yes, yes, very much so.

OTOH I have the same gym mentality -- I can watch Angel from 7 - 8 am, guaranteeing that my 30-45 minute workout flies by.....even if I'm "late" to the gym and get there at 7:30.
I think he sank my battleship
I think I just scared the neighbors right through the walls, laughing so loudly.
I saw this happen live on a JetBlue flight from JFK to Oakland.

What made it even funnier was, you could tell which other people on the plane were also watching b/c you could hear the guffaws all over the plane even through headphones... :)
Holy shit that's funny! How does he manage to read those names without losing it himself? I don't care how much I'd rehearsed, I don't think i could've done that sketch.
Yeah, that really was the most impressive part of the sketch. Mark this as the moment when John Oliver's poker-face abilities eclipsed that of even the previous master, Stephen Colbert.
